Llama Llama Hooray for New Friends! is a children's fiction picture book catagorized under disability fiction for its content.

The targeted age group of this book is 2-5 years of age and the grade level specifically is Kindergarten.

Llama Llama is nervous about meeting the new neighbors but soon befriends their daughter who has a prosthetic leg and one arm, but she can still do sports and he supports her realizing she can do anything.

This book was chosen because it focuses on showcasing disability in a positive light in fiction, but more importantly the Llama Llama books are popular with children because on top of being a series of books it has also been a TV series. It is a popular series for children to check out especially for Kindergarteners which is one of its target audiences. This book would be chosen because children will check it out because of the popularity of the character.

When looking at the personification of the book it is easy to determine this. The book uses animals who have human like attributes to tell the story. They stand on two legs, walk and wear human clothing, but this is not question within the story. It simply is the world it exists in and is believable because of this. It is animals living in a human-like world.

Being a children's picture book, illustration is used throughout to inform the story. We get to see Llama Llama's friend's prosthetic leg and shortened limb and this gives purpose to the bright and colorful illustrations. However, the illustrations mostly do not inform the story the the book can be read and understood without pictures making the text more important to telling the story than the images.

The book provides a very important motif and lesson through its writing. The story is a simple one of not judging a book by its cover and shows how despite physical limitations someone can still ride a bike, play sports and do anything else most kids can do. It also focuses on making friends and finding something to do like an activity you both can enjoy. This is established through the writing as it touches on the subject of ability and friendship.

  Murtagh by Christopher Paolini is a YA Fantasy novel and can be read by readers between 7th and 12th grades. The book is classified under YA by Penguin Random House (n.d.) The story follows Murtagh after the events of the original Inheritance Cycle series where he is an outcast and must atone for his past sins after being a major antagonist. Wanting to find redemption it takes him to unknown lands where he must face off against a witch that mas much more planned for the land of Alagaesia. I chose this book because I grew up reading the Eragon books as a kid and they were a big part of developing my love od reading, but I haven't read them since childhood and have never touched this book until now. YA fantasy is a very popular genre and selecting from a long running series felt appropriate to examine. Who Was Michelangelo? is a biography written for young readers and Penguin Random House places the age of the intended readers between 8 to 12 years old (n.d.). This book is more or less a book of facts about the real life artist, Michelangelo and forgoes the traditional narrative but records the events of his life from childhood to his time painting for the Catholic Church, in particular being commissioned to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. he would go on to sculpt many important pieces and he would be remembered through those works far after his death. Again, my justification for selecting this book doesn't come from it being on any list but rather the popularity of the book series published by WhoHQ.
